Radio Pedestrian
Interviews from the street for the street.

As you walk down the street, you read a seemingly simple question. Something like: What is contentment? Or: How do we change? Somehow you stumble upon it... The more you think, the more you realize that the number of possible answers is limitless. What would yours be?

My idea is simple: I stand in the pedestrian zones of Europe's cities with a cardboard sign and a question like this. By making eye contact and smiling, I try to encourage passers-by to give an interview. What follows is a conversation that can go in any direction and is defined only by the starting point of my question. Radio Pedestrian listens attentively, welcomes every word with the microphone, and follows the stream of answers with questions.

It is so special to have a deep conversation with a stranger on the street. My impression is, many like to be "asked"; to feel that they have something to tell without being immediately judged and pigeonholed. Radio Pedestrian wants to build a bridge: By broadcasting the interviews via the website, the radio and installations in public spaces, it is built between the telling voices and the listeners. An indirect encounter happens. Some listeners take the opportunity to give an interview themselves and the circle continues.
